Hello! I’m Kris. I’m a 25 year old American woman living in Tokyo, Japan. I work as an English teacher in a high school here. I’m originally from Kentucky, USA. I’ve been living in Japan since August of 2015. I currently have no plan to go back to the USA to live.
I’ve always had a passion for languages. In the past, I’ve studied Spanish, Japanese, and Korean. I gravitated toward Japanese because of manga, anime, and music (of course). I started learning a little bit of Japanese on my own around the time I was 11, and when I was 14 I decided I wanted to apply for the JET Program someday so that I could live in Japan. I minored in Japanese Studies in university and briefly studied at Nanzan University in Nagoya. Once I can reach fluency in Japanese, I’d like to shift my focus to Korean. I’m also considering picking up German because my ancestors immigrated from Germany to the USA in 1846.
I live with my best friend and boyfriend, Shun. He is a Japanese PhD student studying chemistry. He’s not normal (evidence below).

(This is him at his most presentable moments)
A lot of my writing inspiration comes from my interactions with students, coworkers, and of course, Shun.
